Can CBD Help with Migraines? – Ambary Gardens

June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month (MHAM)  and the statistics are almost unbelievable! In this article, we will be diving into the statistics of Migraines, and what the research says about CBD oil for Migraines, and if CBD is right for you.

According to Migraine.com, almost 38 million Americans suffer from migraine-related issues, 70% are women, and 2-3 million people experience chronic pain due to migraines. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Those that are severely affected by chronic migraines have experienced a debilitating decline in their quality of life due to chronic pain, so much so that migraines are rated as the 19th most common disability. This, unfortunately, causes those that do have debilitating migraines to be six times as likely to visit the emergency room and use twice the amount of prescription pain killers as those who do not to suffer from the disorder, creating a financial burden as well.

Migraine sufferers describe a multitude of symptoms that can affect the entirety of the body. Ranging anywhere from throbbing pain, numbness in the hands, light and sound sensitivity, changes in sight, blurred vision or loss of vision altogether, nausea and vomiting, all over body pain, and crippling exhaustion. Some of these symptoms start long before the physical head pain begins, creating a situation that is far more intense than most people realize or is even visible from an outsider’s perspective.

What the research (limited as it may be) says about migraines and CBD

What we know about CBD and its effect on migraines is brief as we wait for more studies to be conducted and completed. However, we do know that CBD does align with these inflammatory symptoms in a very direct way. A study performed by the Headache Science Centre, IRCCS Neurological Institute C. Mondino Foundation in Pavia, Italy, states “Although the exact ECS (endocannabinoid system) dependent mechanisms underlying migraine are not fully understood, the available results strongly suggest that activation of ECS could represent a promising therapeutic tool for reducing both the physiological and inflammatory components of pain that are likely involved in migraine attacks.” With this study, we understand that inflammation is a key player in the exacerbating the symptoms during a migraine attack.

Interestingly enough, another study was performed using CBD as an effective form of alleviating the symptoms causing migraines, “When analyzing use in the treatment of acute pain, the researchers came across an interesting phenomenon: cannabinoids reduced pain intensity among migraine patients by 43.5%.” That is an incredible decrease in symptomatic issues associated with migraines and the chronic pain involved. If every person suffering from migraines had a 43% loss in symptomatic issues, that would be an absolutely incredible change in their quality of life!

Should you consider CBD as a treatment for migraines?

When migraine sufferers ask us if CBD helps reduce or relieve symptoms of migraines and the associated pain, we respond…”It might…if you have yet to find an effective migraine treatment, it may be worth considering. And you may have more immediate results if you ingest a nanoencapsulated formulation of CBD.”

Why Nano CBD Extract? Because it’s so fast acting, many people report that they find quick relief from headaches and migraines.

Full Spectrum Nano-Encapsulated CBD is the most efficient method of delivering CBD to your body. The bioavailability of each CBD molecule is enhanced by encapsulating very small droplets of oil in water, allowing the CBD to bypass normal oil digestive processes and enter immediately into the bloodstream, making it a  fast-acting CBD extract.

Of course, if you’re considering using CBD you should speak with your doctor. You should also check that the products you’re considering come from a reputable source, to ensure your safety.
